ESQ

ESQ is a secure collaboration platform purpose-built for law offices. It bundles all documents, topics, and conversations in a single application, creating a fluid environment for collaboration and transparency. With ESQ's document editing and commenting system, teams can revise documents, track changes, and make comments that sync between all users and environments. ESQ organizes groups and documents around conversation threads, eliminating the need to communicate or send documents via email – a considerable security risk for firms.

I began my engagement with ESQ leading product definition, strategy, and research, working with the founders to articulate the product vision. We conducted interviews with legal professionals from many different areas of practice – from large corporate firms to state's attorney's offices – to understand their most significant pain points and barriers to efficiency, and how ESQ would help streamline workflows and communication.

We utilized video for journey mapping and as an adjunct resource for communicating ideas and maintaining alignment across a distributed team, working in Sketch and prototyping in InVision. Iteration was done in 2-week design sprints, with testing after each round. MVP was WIN-based desktop and iOS.

The final phase of the engagement focused on establishing the ESQ visual identity and vocabulary, which extended to custom iconography and applying that across the UI's for desktop and mobile. Branding with a logo mark, stationery, and marketing materials rounded out deliverables.

Project engagement: 2016.
